                                   文字の名前付け指針
  この規格の箇条26では,名前の編成及び名前の一意性についての規則を規定している。箇条26の規則
は,ISO/IEC 646,ISO/IEC 6937,ISO/IEC 8859,ISO/IEC 10367などの他の情報技術の符号化文字集合規
格でも用いる。
    注記 JIS X 0201,JIS X 0208,JIS X 0213などの規格でも用いる。
  附属書Lでは,名前を作り出す場合の追加の指針を示す。
  この附属書で示す指針は,CJK統合漢字,西夏文字,女書文字及びハングル音節文字の名前には適用し
ない。CJK統合漢字,西夏文字,女書文字及びハングル音節文字の名前は,それぞれ,26.6,26.7,26.8
及び26.9で規定する規則を用いて編成する。
指針1
  名前は,できる限り通常的に使われる意味を表す(例えば,文字の名前としてPLUS SIGN又はブロッ
ク名BENGALI。)。
  幾つかの文字の名前など,ある種の名前は,使用法ではなく形によってもよい(例えば,文字の名前と
してUPWARDS ARROW。)。
  名前は,指針4の場合を除いて,ものの特質若しくは属性を識別すること,又は言語的特徴についての
情報を提供することを意図しない。
指針2
  略号は,ラテン大文字のAZ及び数字からなり,名前と関連させる。
  略号は,既に使用が定着していて,かつ,明確化のために必要なものの名前に用いる。例えば,制御機
能の名前は,略号と結び付いている。

    注記 JIS X 0211では,モードの名前にも略号を適用している。
指針3
  文字の名前及び名前付きUSI(NUSI)の名前は,数字を英単語として書き下すことが適切でないときに
限って,数字の文字09を含んでよい。
    注記 例えば,位置201Aの文字の名前は,SINGLE LOW-9 QUOTATION MARK(下9形引用符)で
          ある。文字の形状を明らかにするために,数字9の記号がこの名前に含まれているが,数値に
          意味は,ない。
指針4
  文字の名前及びNUSIの名前は,次に示す区分に属する語のうちで適用可能なものの集合から構成し,
次に示す順序で並べる。例外は,指針911による。必要ならば,一層の明確化のために,語WITH及び
ANDを含めてもよい。

  名前の例を次に示す。

    注記 合字(ligature)は,二つ以上の異なる図形記号が単一の図形記号として可視化された図形記号
          である。
  一つの文字が一つの基底文字部と複数個のマークとから構成される文字の名前に関しては,名前中のこ
れらの順序は,マークが基底文字部に対して相対的に位置決めされる順序とする。すなわち,昇順にとら
れる文字の上に置くマークから始まり,その後に降順にとられる文字の下に置くマークが続くか,又はそ
の逆(文字の下に置くマークから始まり,その後に文字の上に置くマークが続く。)とする。
  一つの基底文字部と複数個のマークとから構成されるNUSIに関しては,個々の名前をそれらが符号化
される順に記述する。

指針5
  ラテンの用字の文字は,名前の中では,基本図形記号(A,B,Cなど)によって表現する。他の用字の
文字は,最初に刊行された国際規格の言語からの転写で表現する。

  与えられた用字の文字が複数の言語で使われている場合,言語名は,使わない。しかし,曖昧さが生じ
る場合は,この限りではない。

指針7
  複数個の用字の構成要素となっている文字は,形が同じでも異なるものとみなし,異なる名前をもつ。

        A        CYRILLIC CAPITAL LETTER A
指針8
  可能ならば,NUSIの名前は,その構成要素の名前の要素を,重複を無視して連結することによって構
成する。この手順によって既に存在する名前が得られたならば,その名前は,文字の名前及びNUSIの名
前の中での一意性を保証するために適切に修正する。一層の明確化のために,語WITH及びANDを含めて
もよい。
指針9
  例えば,物理量の単位に関連する図形記号のように,他の用字の中で独立して使われる一つの用字の文
字は,それ本来の用字の文字と異なる文字とみなす。

指針10
  幾つかの文字は,1語又は2語からなる伝統的な名前をもっている。これを変えることは,意図しない。

指針11
  与えられた用字の文字(句読点のことが多い。)が他の用字で異なる用法で使われる場合がある。この場
合,最も一般的に使われる慣習的な名前を,その文字に与える。その用字名の後に慣習名をその用字で書
き直したものを続けて注釈として文字一覧表に付けてもよい。
