ISO 22826:2005 では、金属材料の狭いレーザーおよび電子ビーム溶接接合部の横断面の硬さ試験の要件を指定しています。 ISO 6507-1 および ISO 4545 に準拠したビッカース硬さ試験およびヌープ硬さ試験をそれぞれカバーしており、ビッカース硬さ試験の試験力は 0.098 N ～ 98 N 弱 (HV 0.01 ～ HV 10 弱)、試験力は最大ヌープ硬度テストでは 9.8 N (HK 1 のすぐ下) を含みます。
フィラーワイヤの有無にかかわらず溶接に適用できます。より広範囲のハイブリッド レーザー/アーク溶接のテストには適用できない場合があります。
