Foreword

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (ISO 3518:2022), which has been technically revised.

The main changes are as follows:

• Table 2, the range for Z-lanceol has changed and a superscript for the naming of components has been added;
• Figure A.2, some operating conditions have been modified;
• Figures A.1 and A.2, a superscript for the naming of components has been added.

1 Scope

This document specifies certain characteristics of the essential oil of sandalwood (Santalum album L.), in order to facilitate assessment of its quality.
