Introduction
This part of ISO 15706 specifies the structure and basic criteria for the assignment of an identifier for versions of audiovisual works and other content derived from or directly related to an audiovisual work. It supplements the International Standard Audiovisual Number (ISAN) specified in ISO 15706:2002 and provides a mechanism for identifying versions and related content of audiovisual works that have been registered in the International Standard Audiovisual Number (ISAN) system.

The Registration Authority for ISO 15706 is the entity charged with oversight of the ISAN version identification system.
